I used to think that the quietest time in Tulsa was right after New Year’s. Wrong. The city is still incredibly busy and teeming with opportunities, events, and encouragement to help you start the year fresh.

Everyone is eager to get going with 2024, but I want to take a moment and hit pause before forging ahead into the next year with all my grandiose plans (and I am a planner).

One thing that’s helped me ring in the new year for the past three years is Susannah Conway’s annual reflection and goal-setting workbook Unravel Your Year. It creates space that allows gratitude, celebrations, and lessons to bubble up to the surface of my life. I dig into what made the past year meaningful, and which lessons I want to take into the next year. I always close the workbook understanding myself a little better. Print it out, find the coziest corner of your home, and make an afternoon out of the exercise, including setting the tone and your goals for 2024. The best part: it’s free!

Annual Book Tree Giveaway at Magic City Books, January 1st

Magic City Books customers who make a book purchase in store on January 1st will have the option to pick one book from the “book tree” to take home for free. The book tree is a holiday tree created from the books of every single author MCB hosted an event for throughout the past year. On Monday, January 1, they will \”cut down\” the tree by giving books away.

New Year’s Day TenChiller Dive on Lake Tenkiller, January 1st, 11am

Do your part and support elections by becoming a poll worker! 2024 brings six elections for Tulsa County, and the Tulsa County Election Board has a high need for poll workers.
